Jas Kalra joins Constructing Excellence event in London
HPC Research Fellow Jas Kalra recently represented HPC Supply Chain Innovation Lab at the latest Constructing Excellence meeting on, “Responding to the productivity challenge in nuclear” in London. The event was attended by a close group of 35 academics and practitioners, who reflected on some of the challenges faced by organisations when it comes to managing productivity in nuclear megaprojects. Furthermore, there were some exciting discussions around the transferability of some of the manufacturing techniques such as lean and ‘factory thinking’ to the construction context. Jas discussed some of the lab’s ongoing work with EDF Energy on the importance of integrating and up-skilling SMEs in complex megaproject supply networks and the importance of collaboration in supply chains for driving productivity. The meeting has resulted in development of opportunities for collaborative future work with senior practitioners in the area.
